Bulgaria, Sozopol, The Beach and Black Sea

One of the main reasons that Bulgaria attracts so many tourists each year is the wonderful white and golden yellow sands to be found on so many Bulgarian beaches. With beaches up to 13km in length the seaside locations on the Black Sea in Bulgaria, are a fair match for even the most exotic locations in the world.

You will find first class – yet inexpensive – hotels in all of the locations where there are beaches, and if my experiences are anything to judge by, they will be clean and friendly places to stay. On the actual sandy beaches there will normally be at least one bar and restaurant, where you may sit in the shade and have a cool drink and a meal, or you can just lie on the sand, and occasionally venture into the warm Black Sea waters.

As with most overseas beaches, there are sun loungers and umbrealls provided on most beaches, and a small charge will pay for yours for the day.

Whilst the Bulgarian beach resorts are now becoming popular worldwide – not least because it is less expensive than most other countries – you may still find there are places which have not been totally commercialised. Even locations that are extremely popular e.g. Sozopol, Sunny Beach, Golden Sands and Shkorpilovtsi still retain their unique Bulgarian charm.
