Bulgarians show a great deal of respect for their family and indeed friends that have passed on. This is reflected in the wonderful monuments to be seen in Bulgarian cemeteries. The sculptured headstones, many engraved, and each with a photograph of the deceased can cost a fortune to those less well off in Bulgaria - but they would not consider doing anything less for their dear and departed.

I believe that it is a mark of the Bulgarian people, just how much respect they give to the loved ones they have lost, with beautiful flowers growing everywhere, and even fresh flowers by the armful brought to the graves on regular occasions.

One other unusual thing that they do is to have leaflets posted outside their homes, which include photgraphs of the departed, which tell of the passing. These leaflets are kept outside the houses, and in other parts of the villages and towns, often for years.

If there may seem from the photographs that a large number are of young peoples graves, I am told that many of them have died on the roads.
