Stara Planina Mountains in Bulgaria

Bulgaria, Dejan's Parents House.

When we visited Bulgaria, we were entertained - and even chaperoned - by a wonderful couple named Nikola and Radka Stoichev of Karnobat, and along with their omni present friend - Botsy - they set out to show us Bulgaria. All three of them are professional vets, and Nikola's command of the english language is excellent. They selfishly gave of their time to welcome and entertain us, and for that we will be eternally grateful to them.

This page is a photographic chronicle of one day that we spent in a forest in the Stara Planina mountains, where they took us to a communal barbeque spot, which included a log dining building.

On the way we were to pick up very good friends of theirs - Deian Ivanov and his family. We were welcomed at Deian's parents (Christo and Amelia Ivanov) house, and given food and drinks before we left. Deian and both of his parents are in the medical profession, and are extremely intelligent - but most importantly - friendly people.

We followed Nikola on the trip up into the mountains, and after what seemed forever we arrived amidst clouds of local butterflies.

Botsy seemed to immediately take control of the barbeque, and Deian pulled out a set of Bagpipes, and began to play for our entertainment. He would later play the guitar for us, ably accompanied by the singer - Botsy. Botsy and Radka went on to dance what looked like a sort of Russian dance, and everyone ate, drank, and had a great time.
